Part of a casino resort complex operated by the Swinomish Indians, the Swinomish Casino RV Park (swimnomishcasinoandlodge.com) is open to RVs only. Just over seven miles north-northwest of La Conner in Anacortes, the campground has 35 sites with full hookups; 16 sites are pull-throughs that can easily accommodate big rigs. Looking east, the campground offers excellent views of Mount Baker and other peaks in the Cascades. In addition to the casino and resort restaurants, the pet-friendly RV park offers picnic tables, cable TV and a dump station. No restrooms or showers are available at the campground.

Blakes RV Park

Eight miles southeast of La Conner near the town of Mount Vernon, Blakes RV Park & Marina (no website; 13739 Rawlins Road, Mount Vernon; 360-445-6533) is just a short distance from Skagit Bay. Its 53 campsites accommodate both RVs and tents and include 29 sites with full hookups, four with water and electricity and 20 without utilities. Open year-round, the campground’s facilities include a convenience store, recreation room, picnic area and coin laundry. Most pets are welcome, but the management has restrictions on some breeds, so call for specifics before traveling.

Bay View State Park

On the shores of Padilla Bay near Anacortes, Bay View State Park (parks.wa.gov) is a 25-acre camping park that also has rental cabins and yurts for would-be campers without their own gear. RV and tent campers are accommodated at 29 RV sites with full hookups and 46 tent camping sites without utilities. The sites are divided among three separate camping loops, served by a total of two restrooms and six showers. Open year-round, the park’s proximity to the bay offers good boating, fishing and swimming. Other facilities include a playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits and picnic areas.
