Today’s blog is coming slightly later than planned!
Poker took up so much of our time and energy during the Goliath that there just weren’t many hours left in the day to keep you all updated!
I’ve been debating what to share with you in this blog because there’s just so much to talk about. The atmosphere, the staff, the events themselves – Where do I begin?!
So I thought it best to review the GOLIATH 2019 and REDTOOTH POKER’s events in separate articles to give each of them the attention that they deserve.
As for this blog, you’re in need of a Goliath update. So here’s my Goliath wrap up…
WHAT A WEEK!
The GOLIATH 2019 has easily been mybest Goliath ever.
Jen and I played 6 events in total over the course of the 11 days we spent at THE GOLIATH 2019.
That’s a lot of poker!
Now it doesn’t take a genius to work out that you can’t play 6 events in 11 days and have a super successful Goliath. And results-wise, that was pretty much true for the both of us.
However, the GOLIATH 2019 wasn’t just about returning home with a trophy and stacks of cash stuffed in my undies. It was more about the experience for me this year – getting out there, chatting to people and playing the best poker I could.
Writing this blog has brought a whole new dimension to playing poker and introduced me to hundreds of players I never would have met. With The Poker Jungle only being live for 15 days when the Goliath began, it was pretty cool to have new faces come up to me and compliment me on a blog I’d written.
Whilst there were no major scores or victories to celebrate (I played 4 Day 1’s this year and still missed making Day 2…), we did have a few small successes:
>> Jen made Day 2 of THE GOLIATH, finishing in 414th place with a £330 cash.
>> I finished 15th in the Win The Button event for £80 (the most enjoyable tournament I played all week!)
And then there were these hands…
My hand of the Festival
Picture the scene: It’s Day 1F. The alternates list is already as long as your arm and Day 1G is already full. The days of GOLIATH 2019 being a re-entry are long gone!
17bb to my name, I look down at Jh Jc in early position. I have a few options here, but ultimately decide on the open jam.
It folds around to the HJ. Of all the players at the table, THIS GUY is not the player who you want to see debating whether to call your all-in or not. He’s played exceptionally tight, extremely passively and is reaching for chips…
Ultimately, he decides on a call and to be honest with you, I’m fairly sure I’m facing an 80%-20% here – and not in my favour!
However, he turns over 7h 7c and we’re going to need to hold!
Check out this run-out…
Jen’s Hand of the Festival:
Button limps, small blind completes and Jen looks down at Jh Jd.
She raises to isolate the limper. Unfortunately the limper folds but the small blind then rips in his stack for around 40bb.
Waving his arms around in the air, he exclaims, “Might as well spin it up!”

Jen calls.
He shows 65o
THIS is the result of that hand:

So there’s my brief update on how the GOLIATH 2019 went for us. I know I’ve only given you just a few of the highlights – but that’ll teach me for not keeping up with the blog during the week.
MySky Poker Tour blog will be coming in the next day or so, so make sure you’re following on Facebook or Twitter to get the latest updates!
